Ece Cigdem Karakoyun
Hi and welcome!
I am an assistant professor at the Econometric Institute of Erasmus University Rotterdam, working as a part of the Operations Research group. My research mainly addresses challenges at the interface of operations and design problems arising in the energy industry. This encompasses both the supply and demand sides, employing stochastic optimization techniques to find effective solutions and offer valuable insights to relevant stakeholders. I am particularly interested in the operations of low-carbon emerging technologies (e.g., renewable energy resources, energy storage systems, and hybrid energy systems), and in integrating these technologies into electricity market operations while maintaining operational flexibility. I am also interested in energy demand-side management, with a particular emphasis on demand response strategies and the development of smart grids.
